Reporting in from the green sofa in Mom and Dad's living room in Dallas. I'm here playing nurse for Mom, who was bucked off Lucky on Monday, breaking three ribs in the landing (and getting an impressive soft tissue injury to the hip which made it swell to twice its size). Dad happens to be in Beaver Creek skiing right now (despite going to the hospital to pass a kidney stone on Wednesday morning). Anyway, I'm being a second set of hands for Mom while she is temporarily single (unless you count Murphy). She's doing a lot better, meaning she can sit up for herself and shuffle around without totally losing her breath or passing out from her chronically low blood pressure). But she's a tough cookie and I know she'll be just fine soon.
My own life isn't nearly as exciting. I went to Austin last weekend for cousin Lisa's baby shower, and that was a lot of fun. Carolyn rode down with me and we spent a couple nights with Lisa and Eric. Lisa is due at the beginning of April and she looks very cute and pregnant. My only other activity of note has been playing Okami for the PS2. Speaking of which...
OKAMI IS A FABULOUS WONDERFUL AWESOMELY GREAT GAME. Anyone who has a Playstation 2 should play this game. The gameplay is like Zelda, with lots of little sidequests, treasures to find, and optional diversions, and the story is inspired by Japanese mythology. The graphics style is like traditional Japanese art and is gorgeous at all times. One of the game elements is using a paintbrush to manipulate the world; for example, drawing a crescent in the sky makes it night, drawing a circle on water makes a lily pad, drawing a bolt in the air makes lightning. Anyway, yeah, awesome game. It also took me over 60 hours to beat, which means it ranks up there with Final Fantasy games in length. Also, it offers a new game plus type feature which encourages a second play through. There have been rumors of the game being adapted or the Wii, which I really hope happens.
The next game I plan on playing is Rogue Galaxy, an RPG for the PS2.
